Presentation

In an environment of incredible natural beauty and geological richness, we invite you to paddle along the glacial river that connects Lakes Viedma and Argentino. To walk through the inhospitable Patagonian steppe where the senses sharpen and the sounds of silence witness the passage of time.

Descripción

We start the pick-up from the accommodations at 7:30 AM, arriving approximately at 9 AM at the starting area. During this journey, we get to know the geography of the area to interpret the landscape and thus understand the history of why the estancias were established and the creation of our town El Calafate. Along the emblematic Route 40, we will observe guanacos, choiques, and all the native fauna that still lives wild. Upon reaching our starting point and once the technical equipment is delivered, we will conduct a talk and practice on safety and basic maneuvers to begin our adventure. Once in the water, the guides will be constantly assisting the participants, checking the paddling technique and the safety of the group. The first kayaking segment lasts approximately 1.15 hours (12 km) with areas of various rapids and others calm where we contemplate the landscape and the birds that live in this turquoise glacial river. Upon reaching the slopes of Cerro Fortaleza, we will get out of the kayaks and prepare to begin a 5-kilometer trek through a unique landscape in the area: Cerro Los Hornos, a paleontological site of worldwide relevance where the largest dinosaurs were found; within its Petrified Forest, we will discover petrified trunks, dinosaur fossils, and fossilized corals over 90 million years old. Once at the main viewpoint, we will stop for lunch and rest while contemplating the landscape. By a different path, we will return to the river, reuniting with the kayaks to paddle the final 4 kilometers of this expedition to Arroyo El Turbio, where the vehicle awaits to take us back to El Calafate.
