3 DAYS / 2 NIGHTS PROGRAM The Estancia: Nibepo Aike holds the essence of the ancient Patagonian estancias. More than a century ago, a pioneer of Croatian origin found his place in the world here. Today, after three generations, the estancia and its activities are still managed by the same family. In its beginnings, the estancia was dedicated to sheep production, and today its main production is the breeding of Hereford, from which they have developed a prestigious herd. Between working with cattle, horses, and sheep, the activity never stops. It is located within Los Glaciares National Park and on the shores of the Brazo Sur of Lake Argentino. It covers an area of more than 12,000 hectares and extends to the border with Chile. Its proximity to El Calafate, Puerto Bandera, and the Perito Moreno Glacier makes Nibepo Aike an ideal refuge for travelers visiting the area. Be part of the landscape: forests, lagoons, glaciers. A 3-day hiking program along the shores of the Brazo Sur of Lake Argentino, traversing the slopes of the Cristales and Baguales ranges, reaching Lake Frías to approach the Dickson, Grande, and Gorra glaciers. Itinerary
In the morning, transfer from El Calafate (regular service - departure from El Calafate 8:30) to Estancia Nibepo Aike. The guide will welcome you at the estancia and provide an explanatory talk about the program. After enjoying some mate, the hike begins towards Puesto del Cachorro, skirting the Cristales ridge. After lunch, the most suitable crossing point for the Cachorro River will be sought, and the descent towards the lower fields begins until reaching the riverbed. Skirting the lagoon, at the end of the day, you will arrive at Puesto de la Laguna where you will spend two nights. Necessary Equipment
To carry out this activity, it is necessary to have the following equipment:
- Small backpack.
- Sleeping bag.
- Flashlight.
- Waterproof/warm jacket suitable for mountain weather (cold and rain).
- Pants cover.
- Warm sweater or fleece.
- Trekking boots (consider another pair of shoes or sandals in case of river crossings).
- Thermal shirts.
- Gloves / Hat / Scarf.
- Sunscreen.
- Sunglasses.

Important notes
- Luggage stays at the lodge, passengers walk with a day pack, the rest of their personal belongings will be found at the station. It is advisable to bring a small backpack and a small bag, in addition to the travel suitcase that will remain at the lodge. - The hike has no significant elevation changes, making it accessible to any active person. It's important to know that during part of the route, it may be necessary to go barefoot or get your shoes wet. - Moderate difficulty. - It is recommended to bring a sleeping bag (-5°C). - Minor policy: the hike can be done from the age of 12, as long as the kids have already participated in similar extensive hiking programs.
